Why You Can’t Practice Healthy Eating
By: Leah Robinson What's the main reason for why you don't eat healthy?
Lack of education. I mean, why choose healthier meals if you don’t really understand why they’re better for you. Like they say, "What you don't know won't hurt you!"

NOPE. Not quite...Everyday you make decisions whether or not you know loads of information on the topic. We apply this method of decision making all the time, so maybe that's not the main reason for choosing not to eat healthy.
There's got to be a more underlying cause...
Ease of access! Yup, that's your real issue. Think about it, not everyone is fortunate enough to live right behind a grocery store with access to lots of yummy, healthy deliciousness. For many of us, just getting there is a struggle in itself. Not every household has a car, public transit can be a pain, and balancing groceries on a bike isn't always a breeze. So really, you just don't eat healthy because those foods aren't within reach!

NOPE. That's not really it either...We don't necessarily have easy access to many things, but we still do what it takes to get there. So, that can't be the main deterrent from healthy foods either.

IT SOUNDS GOOD, BUT NO. Money may not grow on trees, but that's not your number one obstacle. Perhaps healthy foods seem so expensive because you've already spent such a large portion of your budget on more unhealthy, 'fun' food items. Proportionality is an issue, but that's not your biggest setback!
So really now, what is your main set back from making healthy food decisions???
Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like you to meet Father Time. He's instrumental in keeping us on track. Truly, without him our days would be a jumbled mess, but he is also our worst enemy. Sure, lack of education, ease of access and price have an impact on our decisions when it comes to choosing healthier options, but did you ever consider that maybe your biggest hindrance to eating healthy is that you just don't have enough time in your day?

How many of you have been in that 6'o clock predicament? You just got off work, the kids are hungry, you're tired and the last thing you need is a stressful, time consuming situation on your plate. Instead of spending more time stressing over a nice, healthy, made-from-scratch meal you settle for a satisfying frozen pizza (the frozen foods isle is always there in your time of need), or that 10 minute Chinese take-out from down the street. The perfect quick-fix!
Dinner's done, you're happy, the kids are content and satisfied (and probably a little sluggish from the meal, but a little grease never hurt, right!?) and you can finally kick back, relax and prepare for your next day ahead.

Now, since you've acknowledged the real issue, that in itself justifies your poor eating choices! YAY!
SO EAT ON, FRIENDS!

But wait...
Let's consider the affect of your eating habits by looking at your kids. Today, in the United States, childhood obesity rates have doubled for children and tripled for adolescents. To put things in perspective, studies predict that this will be the first generation who dies before their parents.
Since kids learn most of their habits from the home, as parents it's important to set a great example and that applies to the food choices that you make. With lack of time leading to many of your last-minute decisions, that aren't exactly the healthiest, it's time to think how to combat this issue.
Online meal planners like Fitly®, Good Eggs and Relay Foods work to ease your daily demand of making the best nutrition decisions for your family by providing delicious, planned meals right to you! Other convenience solutions like online grocery shopping have been around for awhile now, and with the rise in childhood obesity, it can serve us more use than ever. By reducing the total time spent commuting to the store, browsing the isles, and meal planning that time is transferred towards more direct family involvement and more time to devote to making great choices!
